We Are Cunard

Hello All
As we’re heading towards the weekend I wanted to share a couple of photos and a short video from earlier on in the week here in Southampton. Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth departed on Tuesday evening for their world voyages with a wonderful fireworks display on the Southampton Water. Hundreds of guests were out on their balconies and the open deck areas, cameras were flashing by the second and both ships were blowing their whistles as they sailed into the distance.

It was brilliant to watch our flagship and our newest Cunarder sail off together, and will be the last time we see any of the Cunard fleet in Southampton until the end of March when Queen Victoria returns to the UK. We’re very much looking forward to 5 June when all 3 of our Queens will be together in Southampton for the first time, in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, it’s sure to be a day to remember!

Queen Mary 2 is now in Madeira as she heads down to Cape Town and Queen Elizabeth is crossing the Atlantic heading to New York. Queen Victoria continues her Americas season as she sails around Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal until March this year. We were very pleased to hear this week that she was awarded Best Ship and Best Food in the cruise.co.uk Passenger Ratings 2011 – thank you to those of you who voted!

On a separate note – have you seen our new look homepage on the Cunard website? Have a look and let us know what you think: www.cunard.com

We’ll be updating you with photos and news from the fleet as they sail around the world over the next few months, with some maiden ports of call along the way – please keep logging on!

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Lisa

  2. Roger Hallett says:

Will the Queens meet in Sydney again?

  3. Bill Bradbury says:

Lisa, Peter & yourself should be pleased that as a result of everyone’s reviews over the year “Cruise” has voted the Victoria throughout 2011 as the best cruise ship and has the best food. This is now 2 years running which is well done to all who work on Victoria. I would agree but as in all these catagories such as “Best Cruise Line” it is a matter of opinion and a matter of “courses for horses”. You can’t win them all but, in 2012, Cunard will try, no doubt.

  4. Sheila Hick says:

Lovely to see your pictures…but actually it was Tuesday evening,10th Jan when the two Queens started their World voyages…I disembarked the Queen Elizabeth on January 10th my 70th Birthday after 5 wonderful nights on her on a trip to Le Havre and Hamburg with three girl friends.Thankyou Cunard for my Birthday Card and Birthday greetings on the am TV Morning Show with Amanda Reid (the excellent Cruise Director).
My Husband and I are really looking forward to rejoining Queen Elizabeth on the 5th April in Dubai for the last leg of her World voyage…can’t wait!!

  5. Anthony Calabrese says:

    Lisa and Peter,

The website is a wonderful refresh. I only wish the images and tours could be updated and more extensive. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

  6. Robert - Hunter Valley says:

The recent, very saddened circumstances in Italy, reaffirm the necessity for an absolute aherence to maritime care and strictness of proper protocols. Such confirms the policies of Cunard, with its Ships, Captains and Crews. This is why, we voyage with Cunard.

  7. Lisa (Cunard) says:

Roger – there are currently no plans for the Queens to meet in Sydney during the 2012 and 2013 World Voyages. Our 2014 World Voyage itineraries are expected to be announced in July this year.

Sheila – thank you – my mistake!

Since the new web site design , it is more difficult to access the web cams of the 3 ships . Could we have a link back on the home page please.

    Many thanks Simon London

  9. Tom Potter says:

    Lisa,

The new webpage looks terrific. It is very fresh in appearance. The only thing I would like to see return are the itinerary maps that used to come up when you looked at a specific voyage under the destinations tab. Again, Nice job!

  10. Beryl Moss says:

Great blog Lisa -the short video is awesome. The new web page is great and very easy to use including finding the ships web cams.

  11. Kenneth Eden says:

You bring up a very important point, why we cruise Cunard. The safety issues on board, for passenger and crew are extensive, and never obtrusive.

My heart goes out to all that lost friends and family on the Concordia.

  12. Bill Bradbury says:

Kenneth Eden I agree and I will continue to cruise with Cunard. However in the words of that old football chant “They (Cunard) have all gone quiet over there”. I read today in The Times that Cunard amongst others are reviewing safety procedures so I am sure Peter or Lisa will be putting out some comment in the near future. The Cruise.com reviews have certainly thrown up many opinions but I await the Official Inquiry when “truth will out”.

  13. Ian Chorley says:

Isn’t it about time for an update on this blog?

  14. julie says:

looking forward to June 5th and our short (sniff sniff) trip on the QM2 xxxx
